Coach Oliver comes to FHS after serving 10 years as the assistant soccer coach at the University of Arkansas and is known as one of the top goalkeeper teachers in the United States. Coach Oliver is a native of England and has been coaching in the U.S. since 1989.

With coaching experience at many levels and in several countries, Oliver brings an international flavor to FHS. He has been a head coach or assistant coach in the U.S., England and Ireland. He has worked at the Olympic, professional, collegiate and youth development levels. A student of the game, he has earned a pair of international coaching licenses, the UEFA "A" license and IFA Goalkeeping Diploma.

Coach Oliver is married to Katie Oliver, who is a math teacher at McNair Middle School. The have four children. Jessica, Harry, and twins Abby and Lizzy, who all attend Fayetteville Public Schools.

Rick Ternes

Coach Ternes is originally from the Northwest Chicago suburbs, Palatine, IL.  He earned his BS from Shenandoah University in 2003 and his MS in athletic training from the University of Arkansas in 2005.

In addition to coaching, Coach Ternes teaches Health and Career Orientation at Woodland Junior High School. Prior to joining FHS soccer, he  coached the University of Arkansas Soccer Club, was an assistant coach at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia and has coached numerous youth soccer teams over the past 10 years. Coach Ternes won a state championship at Palatine High School in 1995 while serving as team captain. He attended Francis Marion University (Division II) and went on to play at the University of Illinois-Chicago (Division I). Coach Ternes is married to Maggie Ternes and has one daughter, Olivia.  

Junior Varsity Coach

Scott Rainer

Coach Rainer has been working with the junior varsity boys at FHS for three years. He has his USSF "D" license and also coaches for the Comets Futbol Club. Coach Rainer is the former coach of the Woodland Junior High soccer team. He is originally from Monroe, La. Coach Rainer is married to  his wife, Casey and they have a daughter named Audrey. The Rainer's attend the University Baptist Church in Fayetteville.
